Splean is one of the most popular and influential rock bands in Russia. The collective was formed in 1994 in St. Petersburg, although in fact it happened much earlier. Its frontman and permanent leader is Alexander Vasiliev.

Being in the centre of the Balkans, it is midway between the Black Sea and the Adriatic Sea, and closest to the Aegean Sea.[18][19]
